FDS were contracted to undertake the strip out and asbestos removal to various business centres and back of house areas within the Grade 2* listed Law Society’s Hall on Chancery Lane.
While all works were undertaken while the building remained heavily tenanted, of particular sensitivity was the removal of damaged AIB panelling detected under the plywood in a number of rooms. A total of five enclosures were erected in various places to encapsulate the asbestos removal works, some of which had to be planned and programmed around changes to Law Society fire and emergency procedures. Waste transit routes and collections were timed and agreed with all Parties in advance to maintain the utmost discretion during the procedure.
FDS was able to hand back all sections of work on time in accordance with a carefully sequences construction program and has since been engaged in tendering for more work within the heritage sector.
